Ich hab es noch nicht ausprobiert, aber Inkscape ist Freeware und soll wohl von dem LinuxProgramm sodipodi abstammen:

Vorsicht : Sind schon ein paar MB

Ein:
Ich verwende für Charakterbögen Word. Mit ein bißchen Übung bekommt da Toppresultate hin, allerdings sollte man auch alle Formatierungstechniken (Tabellen, Tabulatoren und Textfelder) beherrschen.

Nein, leider nicht, wobei man CorelDraw in älteren Versionen sehr günstig auf ebay bekommt. Für Freehand gibt's bei macromedia.com eine 30-Tage Trial-Version, für Illustrator bei adobe.com meines Wissens auch.

Photoshop nehme ich manchmal her, um offizielle Charakterbögen, die es als PDF im Netz zum Herunterladen gibt, an meine Bedürfnisse anzupassen.

Yup, ich benutze Scribus mit Inkscape und Gimp in der Hinterhand...
