Ich höre die Scheibe seit langem regelmäßig und kann mich immer wieder daran begeistern.
Crimson King:
Lee Clayton ist so ein Musiker, den ich nicht durch Zufall entdecken kann. Der muss mir empfohlen werden. Clayton ist Singer/Songwriter, eine Ecke, in der ich mich normalerweise überhaupt nicht bewege. er hat auch einen kurzen Albenkatalog, obwohl er früh in den 70ern angefangen hat und noch lebt.
Stilistisch hat ihn jemand mal als "Clayton klingt so, wie Dylan klingen müsste, wenn er noch wie Dylan klingen wollte" beschrieben. Ich häre neben Dylan noch ordentlich Mark Knopfler raus, der aber in dem Fall, dass ein Zusammenhang existiert, eher von Clayton inspiriert wäre als anders herum. Beide vermischen folkige, bluesige und rockige Elemente in einem eher ruhigen Stil, wobei Knopfer ohne Frage der filigranere Gitarrist ist.
Claytons bekanntestes Stück ist I Ride Alone, das in besonderem Maße Dylan-Vibes versprüht. Er kann es aber auch rockiger, wie er beispielsweise in Where Is The Justice? unter Beweis stellt.
