Some of them were fakes, sure - But some of them were for real, and could put you in touch with the dead. For many rich people, mediums were a necessity. Who else would provide a link with family long gone? In the occult-obsessed 1920s it hit fever pitch, and both the good and the bad mediums thrived in an atmosphere of appreciation. Six people gather around a table. They join hands. The call goes out "Is there anybody there?" Tonight, someone is definitely there. And they want to talk.
PS:
2-3 weitere Szenarien fallen mir auch noch ein, allerdings nicht mehr der Titel oder wo. Eines müsste sofern ich mich Richtig erinnere in einem der Lovecraft County Bände sein, vermutlich Arkham.

Mir fiel auch noch etwas ein, von dem ich aber nicht mehr weiss, in welchem Szenario es zu finden ist.

Nyarlathotep wird beschworen und beantwortet eine Frage, ist dem Ganzen aber sofort überdrüssig und verlangt, dass seine Beschwörung beendet wird. Kommen die Chars dem nicht nach, dann verletzt er sich selbst (sprich den Char, in den er beschworen wurde).
