Crimson King:
Der HdR und die Werke, die im gleichen Kontext stehen, sind ja auch mehr als ein literarisches Werk. Sie sind letzten Endes Tolkiens Selbstverwirklichung und man sollte sich nicht wundern, wenn Spuren seines eigenen reaktionären und technikfeindlichen Weltbildes dort eingeflossen sind. Jedwede direkte Interpretation halte ich allerdings für reichlich abwegig.

Callisto:
Technikfeindlich nein. Die Zerstörung des "Auenlandes" seiner Jugend durch die Industrialisierung fand er halt net toll. Aber als technikfeindlich würde ich ihn nicht bezeichnen.

Da ist eine tolle Liste dystopischer Bücher/Filme drin:

"Soylent Green"? "Blade Runner"? "Rollerball"? "Silent Running"? "1984"? "Fail-Safe"? "The China Syndrome"? "Terminator"? "The Hot Zone"? "Logan's Run"? "The Postman"? "Fahrenheit 451"?

Edit: Streicht Postman aus der Liste. Aber dafür sollte jeder, der Paranoia spielt/leitet "Logan's Run" gesehen haben. Das ist einfach DIE Quelle.

Der Typ ist toll:

Picture Odysseus telling both Agamemnon and Poseidon to go chase themselves, then heading off to join Daedalus in a garage start-up company, mass producing wheeled and winged horses so that mortals could swoop about the land and air, like gods -- the way common folk do today. Even if they fail, and jealous Olympians crush them, what a tale it would be.
