Spekulationen ueber Gygax' Meinung zur 4e

1. Ich versteh nicht, wieso immer gesagt wird, dass GG die Edition 3.x nicht mochte, immerhin hat er doch fleißig Bücher mitentwickelt.

2. Ich finds jetzt natürlich nicht wieder, aber im Zuge der Ankündigung der neuen Edition hat GG mal nen Artikel geschrieben, in dem er sich durchaus positiv geäußert hat. Insbesondere die Verknüpfung von Pen&Paper und MMorpg ist auf seinem Mist gewachsen und war ihm ein großes Anliegen.

Ich denke das ganze sollte man auch weniger als "hören auf den Übervater" sehen, sondern als: Es gab bereits vor 6 Jahren Leute die gern was geändert hätten - darunter auch solche denen D&D sicher sehr am Herzem lag.

Einige seiner Punkte finden sich ja durchaus in aktuellen Designphilosophien wieder. Aber es gilt halt nicht für alle, vieles was Gygax gut fand erscheint mir heute auch schlichtweg veraltet.

Die Bücher haben aber mit 3.5 nicht viel zu tun, auch wenn sie sich auf das d20-System stützen  und damit sicher auch unter 3.5 brauchbar sind. Aber für mich sind speziell die Bücher aus der Gygaxian Fantasy-Reihe vor allem dicht gepackte Informationsquellen (die teilweise direkt auf seine Lejendary Adventures verweisen).

Den Slayer Guide to Dragons kenn ich nun nicht, aber wenn der so ähnlich ist wie der mir bekannte SG to Goblins, ist das auch vor allem jede Menge Fluff.

Davon ab darf man das auch nicht überschätzen. Von Ed Greenwood weiss man ja auch, dass ihm die Entwicklung, die "seine" Realms genommen haben, in vielem nicht gefällt, was ihn aber nicht davon abhält, weiter Romane und Material dazu beizusteuern. Reich wird man in der Branche eh nicht, da überlegt man schon, ob man sich einem System quasi aus purem Trotz verweigert.

Nichtsdestotrotz wird aus dem zitierten Interview ja schon ziemlich klar, dass EGG mit 3.5 etwas auf Kriegsfuss steht.
