Ein Indesign-Dokument wird so gut wie nie an eine Druckerei geschickt. Da es ein editierbares „offenes“ Dokument ist, können zu viele Fehler entstehen, wenn es von einer anderen Quelle geöffnet wird. Es ist eigentlich nur die reine Arbeitsdatei, aus der ein druckfertiges PDF exportiert wird. Der größte Vorteil dabei ist – wenn man es denn richtig macht –, dass ein PDF ein geschlossener Container ist, der für den Druck optimiert ist. PDFs sind tatsächlich Standard in jeder Druckerei.
