wer Lust hat kann gerne mitmachen, es gibt noch viel Platz für Ideen. Hier ein Auszug eines NPCs, den man sicherlich in jedem setting einsetzen kann.
Laryn "The Finger and the Mouth" Cargalan is the Auctioneer and one of the reasons for Hawkmoons criminal fame.
He`s a small, matter-of-fact man, who tries to be as emotionless as possible, being however overly polite. In truth he is a man without the slightest conscience. Nothing he does ever makes him fell bad. He is like a person without a soul.
He`s a very ambitious man with a unique ability: he is able to appraise the worth of anything. From peoples, slaves, magical items, the price of an information, everything conceivable. Nobody knows why he can do it and how he does it. Some say he sold his soul, others say he is a diplomatic but shrewd negotiator. And indeed, he managed to become famous nearly overnight.
He rented an old and run down Inn called “The Black Swan” and began building a buyers and sellers network. In the beginning things were material, foodstuffs, antiquities and the rest of the usual fare. The swan prospered beyond any expectations. Cargalan took this development for granted.
But more and more he started to build a continent spanning spynetwork, he "inherited" by chance from the broken down kingdom of “Theluria”.
He started to broker the information he received, inviting those, who are interested in these news. Some call it blackmail, because the victim of the information exchange can buy her own secret, openly on sale in Hawkmoon.This of course has led to many assassination attempts on his life, he somehow survived. He started to built an own network, training it in the arts of dirty and not so dirty information gathering.
Some say he even employed a demonologist, attaining informations through the dark arts.
Also, he has highly capable bodyguards, as well as certain avenues of security. Should any attempt on his life be made, the information will be sent to every party, including why the parties are interested in it. So everybody loses. Also, the information is copied and hidden in one of the subterranean caves of Hawkmoon, so that at least two of his employees know where it is.
There are two kinds of auctions, open auctions and closed auctions. The open auctions are like auctions we all know, mostly of material considerations. The closed auctions are however his main income and source of power.
He invites the parties politely by a written protocol in form of a red scroll, including his personal seal, a coin and a mouth with a raised index finger. Peoples usually know that things are difficult from now on. The parties meet in Hawkmoon, usually orchestrated by the “Academy of the Sphere”, using portals to get the peoples there. The guild of the “Auctioneers” offer an all inclusive stay, everything is paid by them.
The Auction itself starts by presenting the basic content of the information, like

(Perkins, the Duke of the Barony and the Syndicate are invited)
every bidder can bid as high as only possible. He or she can bid with coin but also with information (!), magical items, slaves or whatever raises the price. Cargalan estimates the offer in mere seconds and continues till one side has raised the highest offer. (he knows the value but not thje implications why an information is that valuable!) This is a new way for Laryn to get hold of even more valuable secrets.
Usually the peoples involved don`t see each other. They bid in separate rooms, only connected by a network of acoustically enhanced tubes, that make the meeting impersonal but also very tense. The Information is protected as good as only possible, special accomodations have to be made taking the nature of the secret into account.
After the meeting, some peoples will be hypnotized or enchanted, so that they forget the meeting and the information givem. Only a receipt reminds the bidder of the blurry lost day and the presence of the all-too-powerful Laryn.
Cargalan recruits peoples, spies, bards (of course) and politicians into his guild called "The Finger and the Coin". He`s said to have hundreds of peoples on his list, using EVERY conceivable means to get hold of secret information.
Some say that Cargalan is the most powerful man alive. That might be even true, although he always retains absolute neutrality. A man of his word with a gigantic purse.
